Felton Armand for Habitat for Humanity Haiti Project

Felton Armand for Habitat for Humanity Haiti Project Welcome to my Carter Work Project trip page! Have you ever dreamed about building a home for a family in need?

When the opportunity to build a house with Habitat for Humanity crossed my desk, how could I resist?! The people of Haiti have an extreme need for housing and we can make a big difference. I would really appreaciate your assistance in bringing some goodness to this ravished torn part of the world. http://www.habitat.org/cd/cwp/participant/participant.aspx?pid=93539292

I am deeply saddened by the passing of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Amazingly it was 12 years ago today that I had the honor to work shoulder to shoulder with the Carters, rebuilding Leogane, Haiti aftert the earthquake. I was fortunate to have a brief conversation with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter while in Leogane, their humanitarian energy was so contagious that it remains with me to this day.

This is the reason I chose to give and participate in the Habitat for Humanity Haiti Build Week. I wanted to follow my dollars and actively participate in the rebuilding effort. It wasn't perfect, but 400 volunteers built 100 houses in one week. Red Cross has been off my list of charitable organizations for close to 10 years. Thank you NPR for covering this news story, we need more of this type of reporting.

The agency ran into problems in its response to Superstorm Sandy. Then came the Haiti earthquake. The Red Cross spent nearly half a billion. Our reporter wanted to find out: What did it accomplish?
