Perry County Emergency Management along with other emergency response agencies, will be conducting an active mock drill on Thursday morning around 8:30 am and lasting 3/4 hours within the City of Hazard and at the Hazard ARH Hospital.

During this training exercise, residents may notice emergency vehicles, fire trucks, and emergency personnel responding in the area. This is only a drill and training exercise. There is no emergency and no cause for alarm.

The purpose of this drill is to help emergency responders practice and improve their preparedness and coordination during critical incidents.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we conduct this important training event.

Multiple storm complexes will move across eastern Kentucky today and tonight. Heavy rainfall may result in scattered instances of flash flooding, especially in areas that are hit with repeated rounds of storms. All of eastern Kentucky is under a Flood Watch until late tonight.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...

Southeastern Montgomery County in east central Kentucky...
Southwestern Morgan County in southeastern Kentucky...
Owsley County in southeastern Kentucky...
Estill County in east central Kentucky...
Eastern Jackson County in southeastern Kentucky...

* At 534 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Wellington to Fox, moving southeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...
Irvine around 540 PM EDT.
Fincastle around 545 PM EDT.
Beattyville around 550 PM EDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include
Jackson, Booneville and Copland.

We just received notification from the National Weather Service:
Multiple storm complexes will move through this afternoon and evening. Several storms will be strong to severe with damaging winds up to 80 mph and heavy rainfall the primary concerns. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out. Significant to life-threatening flash flooding is possible today through tomorrow morning.
