-**Drivers License is a requirement for kayak lead position**

Preference will be given to those with a DRIVERS LICENSE

First Day: June 1

Must be:
-16 years or older
-Have Monday-Thursday 8-3 availability

Preference will be given to those with a DRIVERS LICENSE

Job duties include:
-walking trails
-using various trail handtools (loppers, shovels, rakes, etc)
-using lawn equipment (w**d eaters, hedge trimmers, etc)
-heavy lifting
-outdoor rec event support (running/ bike races, etc)

Finally, it is with great pleasure we announce our 2025 Turkey Trot pie baking winner! Big congratulations to Morgan Pugh with her coconut banana cream pie!!! Congrats Morgan, we will be in touch with your award!
We had many amazing pies and frankly it was a tough vote for our racers- but thank you to all bakers who entered, I hope you will be back next year!!

Thank you again to all who showed up for our first annual Turkey Trot 5k in downtown Hazard. Below you can find your bib number with time!
We also wanted to take the time to share just how impactful our race was to the region. We had 75 racers attend this year!! Thank you to our wonderful community & thank you to all of our visitors for coming out! We hope everyone had an amazing time and a wonderful Thanksgiving.

To address the traffic issue: we are working with Hazard PD to create better protocol for race events. We hear your concerns and welcome you to voice them to us so we can better plan for the safety of our racers, as well as the flow and function of the community. We are in the "trial & error" phase of figuring out how it all can work together, and we want to be able to keep providing our community with health & wellness events outdoors. So again, please feel free to reach out with suggestions and feedback (kindly please).

WHO IS READY TO TROT?! Can’t wait to see all you turkeys tomorrow morning for our first annual Turkey Trot 5k! 🏃 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🦃
Bib pickup opens at 8a tomorrow at the Art Station. Online registration will remain live until race start.

Today was the ribbon cutting for the new kayak shelter located at the Perry County Park boat launch. The project was a collaboration between our department and the UK college of Architecture as part of their Build-Design program. Big thank you to that team as they took in designing, building and funding the amazing structure.

The project was designed to address the issue of shade and seating while kayakers wait for the shuttle from our kayak rental program. With the river and other nature inspired elements in mind, it will ‘shed’ its tarp roof every fall.

Everyone is welcome to utilize the “Paddlers Porch” and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy lunch by the river.

Let’s keep Perry beautiful and respect these structures so they can last for a long time. We have big plans for this boat launch area and hope our community is as excited as we are for all the outdoor infrastructure to come!
