The Hayward Fire Department is excited to kick off our annual Toys for Kids Toy Drive—helping bring holiday joy to children and families right here in our community.
🧸🚒 Now through December 21st, all Hayward Fire Stations will be accepting new, unwrapped toys.
Every donation—big or small—makes a meaningful impact for a child this season.
Let’s show what Hayward is all about.

Please join us in congratulating Ryan Hamre on his appointment as the 12th Fire Chief of the Hayward Fire Department.

Chief Hamre’s story is one of true service and steady leadership. Over the past 20 years with HFD, he has worked his way through the ranks as a:
👉 Firefighter
👉 Apparatus Operator
👉 Captain
👉 Battalion Chief
👉 Deputy Chief
➡️ And now, Fire Chief

He has also proudly served our members as Union President, representing firefighters and the communities we protect.

Chief Hamre brings 24 years of fire service experience in operations, training, emergency management, and administration. His education matches his experience:
🎓 MA in Security Studies – Naval Postgraduate School
🎓 BA in Public Administration – CSU Chico
🎓 Senior Executives in State & Local Government – Harvard Kennedy School
✅ California State Fire Marshal–certified Chief Fire Officer
✅ Deputy Task Force Leader, FEMA US&R California Task Force 4
