HWMS participated Tuesday, September 8 in the Prairie Hills Run at the Ridge meet.
The kids competed very well on a much tougher course than Clearwater. We ran in the
morning trying to beat the heat, and we were very thankful for that. We had nine runners
compete, and all nine ran Personal Records. We also had three runners receive medals: Holly
Eason, Kinley Reser-Jones, and Kinsley Squier. Eason also ran fast enough to earn a spot in our
top three times for the two-mile race.
Reser-Jones once again paced the 7th grade girls with a 13th place finish. She was
followed closely by Squier in 15th place. Makenzie McWilliams rounded out the 7th grade trio
with a very solid 22nd place finish. All three girls ran well for their first race of 1.5 miles. There
were team scores kept for this race, and the girls finished in a solid third place. There were 46
runners and 14 teams in the race.
The 7th grade boys were led by Alex Stobart in 36th place. He was followed closely by
Evan Stobart in 39th place. The boys competed well against a very strong field. There were 54
runners and 15 teams represented in the race.
Eason once again paced the 8th grade girls. Her 4th place finish in 14:31.2 moved her to
third place on our HW all-time list for 2 miles. This puts her only about 17 seconds off the alltime record. Lily Smith continues to impress with her 22nd place finish. Her time was about 15
seconds better than her previous time. There were 39 runners and 15 teams in the race.
Levi Cooper led our 8th grade boys with a 19th place finish. This was great considering
this is his first cross country race at a distance he had never run before. He was followed by
Kaynan Hough in a solid 27th. The race had 53 runners and 15 teams.
There were medals given out to the top 15 runners.
