The Haysville School System combines the personalized spirit of a small town with a top-notch staff, curriculum and facilities normally associated with larger communities. With care and individual attention, we focus on putting each student on the road to a lifetime of learning. Encompassing 36 square miles of south-central Sedgwick County, the Haysville School District (USD 261) draws students from a wide range of urban and rural backgrounds to create a rich, well-blended student body. Our curriculum, designed to meet each student's educational needs, emphasizes the core academic areas of reading, math, science, and social studies, while incorporating all State of Kansas standards for education and reflecting national curriculum reform efforts.

🏗️ Capital Improvement Update

Progress continues across USD 261 as work moves forward on several bond-funded projects.

This week, the primary focus has been roofing work at Freeman Elementary and Nelson Elementary, with both projects moving closer to completion. At Freeman, roofing application is expected to be completed by September 16, with metal work and coping cap work expected by October 2. At Nelson, the roofing application is expected to be completed by September 25, with metal work and coping cap work expected by October 9, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Work is also progressing on the Freeman walkway, where wall framing has begun and will continue into next week.

We appreciate our community’s continued support and patience as these improvements take shape across the district.

What a example of kindness in our Haysville community. đź’™

To celebrate her 100th birthday, Haysville UMC parishioner Irma Schutt gave back by creating birthday cake kits for students who may not otherwise have a cake to celebrate their special day.

Rev. Jennifer Jones recently delivered some of those kits to Rex Elementary, where they will help make birthdays a little brighter for students and families.

Please help us thank Mrs. Schutt for turning a milestone birthday into an amazing act of kindness. What a beautiful way to celebrate 100 years! 🎂✨

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage shown by first responders, survivors, and countless others in the days that followed.

We reflect on their sacrifice, the strength of those affected, and the resilience shown by communities across our nation.

May we continue to remember, honor, and never forget.
