Grow Hays - Investing in Ellis County Community leaders came together to create an organization that could put the community back on the right economic track. The Ellis County Coalition was born.

Formed as a public/private partnership between Ellis County, the cities within Ellis County, and private contributions, Grow Hays focuses on one simple mission, the economic growth and being of the community. Grow Hays, originally The Ellis County Coalition for Economic Development, was founded in 1988, during a period in which the county experienced a downturn in the ag and oil industry, as well

as the loss of a major employer. Formed as a public/private partnership between Ellis County, the cities within Ellis County, and private contributions, they focus on one simple mission, the economic growth and being of Ellis County. To further this end, Grow Hays works with the community and businesses in a number of areas: affordable housing development, workforce development and training, grant writing, relocation assistance, start-up assistance, business recruitment, and much more. Grow Hays continues to develop and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal organizations in an effort to bring resources and support to businesses located in the community. As your business succeeds, our community succeeds.

Hays, America is a university community of 20,000 people located half way between Kansas City and Denver on Interstate 70. We are the regional hub of Northwest Kansas for retail, education, medical service, entertainment, and recreation. Ellis County annually has one of the top retail pull factors in the state. Our downtown is being revitalized with unique shops and entertainment and the north side of town is expanding with additional retail offerings. We have a very diversified mix of businesses in the area although agriculture and oil are still major parts of the regional economy. The Hays Regional Airport offers four commercial flights each day to Denver. And, according to recent rankings by Progressive Farmer, E-Podunk, and BizJournal; Hays, America has a great quality of life. We happen to agree. Ellis County is also the home of two bedroom communities Ellis and Victoria.
