Dunn’s River Falls is a well-known waterfall located near Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
The falls are about 180 feet (55 m) high and 600 feet (180 m) long. They have a naturally stepped formation, giving them the look of a huge staircase created by nature. Small lagoons are found between some of the steeper sections of the falls.
The water flows directly into the Caribbean Sea at the edge of a white sandy beach. Climbing the falls is one of the most popular activities for visitors and is usually done with the assistance of tour guides, though this is not always required. The climb generally takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, including short stops for photos and videos often taken by the guides. For visitors who prefer not to climb through the water, or who may find the rocky and uneven surface difficult, there are stairs running alongside the falls.
Dunn’s River Falls received the title of Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction in 2023, 2021, and 2020. In addition, the Dunn’s River Falls Zip Line in Ocho Rios earned the title of Best Caribbean Attraction in the 2020 Editor-in-Chief Awards by Porthole Cruise Magazine.
