The Sternberg Museum of Natural History advances an appreciation and understanding of Earth's natural history and the evolutionary forces that impact it. With an emphasis on the Great Plains, our goals are accomplished through research, publications, collections, interpretive exhibits, and educational programs created by our staff, colleagues, and community.

Huge shoutout to the Hays Public Library! 📚✨ Thank you so much for having us as part of your Summer Reading Program this year. We had an absolute blast hanging out with everyone!

To all the parents and teachers—your kids are truly amazing! Thank you for sharing them with us this summer. We’re leaving with big smiles and great memories! ❤️

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Woodhouse’s toad, Froggy. 🐸💚

Froggy first joined our Sternberg Museum family back in 2020 after literally hopping his way right up to our doors. Since then, he grew into one of our absolute best program ambassador animals.

He was always a star participant at birthday parties, where kids loved the chance to hold him (and, if they were lucky, experience the classic toad initiation of getting peed on!). Froggy was always quick to "talk your ear off" with his vocalizations, and he was always happy to accept a handful of delicious bugs as payment for his hard work.

We will miss Froggy dearly, but we are dedicated to making sure his memory lives on and continuing to inspire curiosity about native wildlife just as he did.

📸 Help us remember him: If you or your family ever met Froggy or took a picture with him during a program or birthday party, please share your photos and favorite memories in the comments below so we can all honor his wonderful life together.

Raspberry is still adjusting to life on display. We think she is doing great! But during large groups she needs a little extra love🥰
