***Notice of Scheduled Water Outage - Hayesville Area***

This is a notice from Clay County Water and Sewer Director Dusty Beale of a scheduled water outage on September 8, 2026 beginning at 6:00pm until September 9, 2026 at 7:00am.

The water outage will affect the following locations:
All of Hwy 64 Business
Hwy 64 West from the intersection of Fort Hembree Rd to the Dollar General Store & Village Church area
Old Hwy 64 West

The purpose of the water outage is to tie in a new water line with the ongoing road construction on Hwy 64 Business.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm tonight for Clay County and the surrounding area.

Be prepared and tune in to local radio, TV, and social media outlets for any warnings issued for our area.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia until 10 PM EDT

Just some minor tweaks to the Slight Risk (2/5) area for the afternoon update. Strong to damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning will all be possible beneath thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive any watch or warning information. If thunder roars, go indoors.

Reports of trees down and power lines down in all parts of the county. If you encounter a fallen power line on the ground, DO NOT APPROACH ANY POWERLINES.
