Thanks to everyone who sponsored, volunteered, played, cooked, or just came out to enjoy Porchfest. So many amazing things happened yesterday that it’s hard to keep this a short post. We had guests from states as far away as West Virginia and performers who came from Germany. Holly Munez summed this up with our first performance yesterday, “This is about connecting”.
I think the star of the show was actually a female snapping turtle that Melissa Stevens has been rehabbing. If you missed it, you may have to wait for the documentary that was being filmed yesterday.
Huge shout-out to Chief Connell and the Fire Department. Most people only deal with the fire department on their worst day, and this was a great opportunity to connect on a really good day. The kids enjoyed seeing a rescue vehicle, and we may have a few new volunteers for the department. The whole fire department team was also instrumental in helping us with cleanup at Meekins at the end of the day.
We ended the day with lots of memories, pictures and videos that will be shared in the days ahead. The art show at the Williamsburg Church will still be partially up next week if you didn’t see it or finally decided you wanted to get that special piece of art. See Jenn at the church. She did an amazing job of pulling that together.
We still have yet to award the Golden Porch award. We need to look at some of the pictures side by side, but everyone did a great job of decorating.
I personally feel like I got a lot more out of it than I put into it, great memories, some c***r donuts, and a jar of Helen Symons pickles 😊
We are already getting ready for the next Porchfest, Sept 11, 2027.
