ATTENTION HAYDEN VOTERS DO NOT VOTE FOR BRUCE MATTARE

Commissioner Bruce Mattare is Chair of the Kootenai County Board of County Commissioners, Special Deputy to Sheriff Norris and is the appointed cheif negotiator for the Kootenai County- City of Hayden Public Safety contract. Hayden citizens pay the county approximately $3.6 million in taxes per year for public safety. Bruce failed to produce deputy time reports to prove what we are getting for what we paid for. It is Bruce’s BlueHippo MBO to hide information from the citizens of Hayden. Hayden purchased 5 deputy vehicles for approximately $90,000 each fully equipped. Bruce refused to allow Hayden to put Verizon Connect GPS tracker in the vehicles so that we could get deputy time reports at a total cost for the five vehicles of $1,000 installed. Bruce does not want any accountability, and Hayden citizens require it.

Hayden, Hayden Lake and Dalton Garden have been charged with deputy overtime. Bruce clearly has stated that the county cannot track deputy time. When asked to explain how the county can charge for overtime of deputies and cannot track deputy overtime, his response, “I cannot answer that question”. Bruce Mattare needs to go back to his BlueHippo executive director position and leave Kootenai County alone.

Raphael's painting, 'The School Of Athens', It's a romantic, idealized portrayal of ancient Greece as the fount of political Democracy, from which many modern governments - from anarchy to Marxism to representative democracies - claim their origins.
"Democracy" is a term that is widely misused, particularly in the United States, as any political system where citizens control their government and exercise a right of self-determination. A democracy, in its purest form, is the direct control of the many in their government. It is also one of the most dangerous forms of government. Rule by the masses can easily devolve into what Benjamin Rush - signer of the Declaration of Independence and delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 - referred to as "mobocracy". Jonathan Turley in his book 'Rage And The Republic', dedicates a chapter to explaining what really happened in ancient Greece, and specifically in Athens, where the pendulum of government swung between "turannos" (rule by a single individual or oligarchy), and "demos" (rule by the public majority). Instead of stability, Athens experienced repeated tumult of government abuses and mob excesses as the pendulum swung back and forth. Athens was anything but a just form of government.
The framers of our US Constitution understood this, and created a form of government called Federalism that divides and shares power between a central national government and regional state governments. As originally envisioned, members of the US House of Representatives were elected by popular vote. This answers the call of rule by the majority. On the other hand, senators were originally intended to be chosen by state governments - NOT popular vote - in order to represent the unique interests of each state.
Many state level GOP platforms, including Idaho, still include a call to repeal the 17th Amendment (ratified in 1913) which changed the selection of senators to popular vote. Antagonists will say that this is an attempt to take away the right of vote of citizens, when actually it would return us to the more rational, stable and objective form of government that removes power from Washington DC, and gives it back to each state.

Kootenai County Commissioner Bruce Mattare uses his Kootenai County commissioner office to operate his numerous businesses for personal gain. His loaded salary is approximately $140,000 per year. Idaho Code makes it clear that taxpayer public assets, his county office, cannot be used for personal gain.
Think about his lack of ethics. If you are being paid by an employer and supplied an office paid by the employer, no employer would let you conduct other business interests for personal gain while at work in the office.
Bruce uses his unethical BlueHippo business practices to line his pockets with personal gain at taxpayer expense. Mattare has breached public trust with his unethical actions.

Bruce Mattare, please explain the meaning of the Kootenai County recording, OFFICIAL OATH, “discharge all the duties of my assignment as a Special Deputy”. What exactly are the duties of your assignment? Are your duties of assignment confidential?

05/13/2026

Kootenai County Commissioner Bruce Mattare’s salary is currently $108,992 per year. Loaded the cost to taxpayers is approximately $142,000 per year. While costing Kootenai County taxpayers $142,000 per year, he uses his office at Kootenai County for personal gain. He manages several businesses that he owns from his office while taxpayers pay for electricity, heating and cooling, internet access, insurance on the building, building maintenance, office furniture and other overhead of the county. So, Bruce Mattare please admit or deny that you use your Kootenai County office while managing your numerous businesses for personal gain? You don’t have the guts to answer this question.

Commissioner Bruce Mattare Goal is to Embezzle Your Right to Vote
Idaho voters should pay close attention to what our parties put in writing. The Idaho Republican Party’s 2024–2026 platform includes a plank calling for repeal of the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution—the amendment that guarantees the direct election of U.S. Senators by the people.
Make no mistake about what repeal means: it takes the Senate vote out of your hands and gives it to politicians in Boise. That is not “small government.” It is less accountability, fewer checks on power, and one fewer ballot decision for ordinary Idahoans.
This is not an academic debate. Candidates asking for our votes—at every level—should be pressed to answer plainly: Do you support repealing the 17th Amendment, yes or no? And if you claim to represent voters, will you publicly oppose any effort to strip Idahoans of the right to elect U.S. Senators?
Here’s my line in the sand: I will not vote for anyone who supports repealing the 17th Amendment—or who hides behind vague answers when asked.
Commissioner Bruce Mattare’s own responses make this issue immediate. In the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee’s (KCRCC) 2026 “Rated and Vetted” questionnaire for the May primary, he was asked: “Describe which party platform best aligns with your positions on public policy … and where do you disagree with that platform.” He answered: “Republican.” He also stated that he STRONGLY supports the GOP platform—which includes repeal of the 17th Amendment, with no exceptions.
In an email to me dated April 14, 2026, I asked him whether he supports the Idaho GOP platform plank that states: “We support restoration of the constitution’s checks and balances … by REPEALING THE 17TH AMENDMENT.” His reply: “Of course I support the Idaho GOP Platform,” with no exceptions.
If you value your voting rights, do not vote for Commissioner Bruce Mattare since his goal is to embezzle your right to vote by repeal of the 17th Amendment. Then use your ballot to defend the basic principle that the people, not power-hungry politicians like Bruce Mattare, choose Idaho’s U.S. Senators.
