Due to the overwhelming popularity of the stairs and trails at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, California State Parks is embarking on much needed restoration of the park. This $1.1 million project will enhance the public benefit and protect it for your enjoyment. However, during construction and restoration, sections of the stairs and trails will be closed Detour routes will be marked so you can continue to use and enjoy the park. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work toward the final goal.

Visitor Services Park Aide
(Seasonal/Maximum1500 hours per year)
Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook
Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is seeking a Visitor Services Park Aide to assist in visitor services, educational programs, and special events at this beautiful state park in Culver City. The employee will provide invaluable support by staffing the visitor center, coordinating interpretive activities, and assisting with special events. The position can work approximately 20-40 hours per week including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
TYPICAL TASKS
 Staff the visitor center, supply information to the public, answer phones/emails,
 Coordinate and lead educational interpretive programs in the park.
 Assist in coordinating special events, reservations, and site tours.
 Assist in the Volunteers in Parks program.
 Contribute to managing the park’s social media.
 Coordinate with local sites and organizations to improve the unit’s interpretation and to expand its cultural, historical, natural and recreational resource base.
 Assist at other local parks as needed for events and other programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to: Be courteous, friendly and outgoing and to work productively with youth and diverse audiences; read, write and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Be able to work individually or in a group setting. (Proficiency in additional languages preferred).
Requirements: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License or Identification Card
COMPENSATION
Hourly: $11.17/hr.
Employee accrues sick and vacation leave throughout their season. Unused vacation hours will be paid out at the end of the season.

We see how you adventure in our parks, but now we want to hear your story! Our parks draw in thousands of people every year to enjoy, explore, and find ways to connect with one another and the outdoors.

What brings you back to a certain state park every day, week, month or year? Why is a certain park special to you? We want to hear the tale of your proposal, the funniest moment of the day, the camping adventure, the beautiful story of your wedding, or any memorable moment that all happened within a California state park. We want to hear them all!

Instead of waiting in lines and sitting in traffic this Black Friday season, go out and tell your story in our parks. If you do not have a story, we encourage you to go out and create one!

Pick your park, tell your story, and win a great prize!

How It Works:

1) Visit your favorite park or one that you go to frequently.
2) Create a post on Instagram that tells us your personal story of why that park is important to you. The post can either be a 60 second video telling the story or a photo with the story in the caption. Only one entry per user.
3) Follow and on Instagram and use the hashtags
4) The California State Parks team will then pick the six most creative stories throughout California.
5) The winner will win an Eagle Creek travel backpack worth over $200.00!, courtesy of Eagle Creek.
