The members and officers would like to congratulate 2026 HS graduate Rocco Varni who graduated this week from Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan. Rocco and his classmates graded last Tuesday evening surrounded by friends and family.

Rocco joined the HFD family 4 years ago as a junior and has quickly grown into a great asset of the Haworth Fire Department. Rocco has followed in his father’s footsteps who also is a firefighter, Nick Varni and is currently serving as the Chief of Department of the Closter Fire Department

Congratulations to the class of 2026! God speed as you all start the next chapter of your adult lives!

Earlier this month the 26 House practiced vehicle fire suppression over at the New Milford Fire Training Center. Companies trained on engine compartment, passenger compartment suppression along with pump operations.

This morning just before 6am the 26 Truck along with 26 Car 1 responded mutual aid to the borough of Englewood Cliffs for a multiple alarm fire in a commercial structure. 26 Truck members set up as a fast team before placing the truck into roof ops.

While operating on scene the Truck provided RIT ops, ventilation and master stream operating. The 26 house operated on scene for 6 hours before being rotated out and released for fresh crews. A demolition company is currently on scene to take down the building while companies continue to flow water into the restaurant.

Luckily there were no injuries reported.

Yesterday afternoon the 26 Truck, 26 Car 2 along with the battalion 2. 7 and several Rockland County Companies responded to this third alarm fire in Norwood and 17th Street. The first arriving companies encountered heavy fire from the garage already extending to the upper floor. The homeowner who was home at the time sustained burns to both hand and arms. 2 firefighters were also evaluated by EMS on scene. Both battalions were on scene for multiple hours and companies are still continuing to hit hot spots into the night.
