Are you considering a timber harvest as part of your property’s long-term management? Do you want to learn more about what goes into a timber sale? Join the Conservancy and the PA DCNR Bureau of Forestry for a “Walk and Talk” on June 5 to have your questions answered!

Austin Noguera, Service Forester with the DCNR, and Steven Gosch, Stewardship Coordinator with Delaware Highlands Conservancy, will meet participants at the Delaware State Forest District Office to explore timber management planned on approximately 208 acres of adjacent forested land. The tour will visit select stands where techniques such as shelterwood cuts and overstory removal are planned while highlighting how trees are marked for sale, how management will support long-term forest health and species diversity, and how the harvest will provide opportunities for public education.

Visit https://delawarehighlands.org/events/timber-sale-field-tour/ for details and to sign up for this FREE program.

Pike County Conservation District is excited to share the completion of a new ACAP project at Egypt Valley Farm in Tafton! 🚜🐄

With additional support from NRCS and the farm operator, the project added conservation practices like heavy-use areas, water facilities, stream crossings, and more that protect water quality, improve soil health, and support long-term farm sustainability along Egypt Creek. 💧

We’re proud to partner with local producers to make a lasting positive impact on our community’s natural resources and look forward to supporting more ACAP projects across Pike County!

🌽From Field to Feed: PA Ag Facts 🐮

Farms and forests can work together!

Riparian forest buffers are trees and plants growing along streams. They help protect waterways from runoff coming off agricultural fields and filter sediment and nutrients before they reach the water. These buffers can even reduce nitrogen from agricultural runoff by up to 68%. The result?

💧 Cleaner streams
🌳 Healthier wildlife habitat
🚜 More resilient working lands

A simple strip of trees along a stream can make a big difference for both farms and water quality!

Road cleanup: because nature shines brighter without the clutter. 🦺🚯

Staff, Board Members, and DEP came together today to clean up PCCD's adopted section of Route 402. Despite the heat, we managed to pick up a total of 22 bags of litter! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped preserve the beauty of our natural resources.

If you'd like to help keep our community a little cleaner, consider joining us in the Fall for our second cleanup of the year! Keep an eye on our website, newsletter, and social media for more information as we get closer.
