SOUTH ELEMENTARY - We have come to the close of our 3rd annual Governor's Breakfast Challenge at South and I wanted to say thank you for all who have supported & participated in this challenge the last 3 months. It has been a pleasure to work & serve the Wallenpaupack community, and it is my hope that it has made a difference to you and your families. With great dedication & pride we have strived to bring new nutritional & healthy meals to the students we serve, so that they can begin their day with delicious food and ready to learn.
Our featured breakfast in the month of March was the BLT Breakfast bowl. Breakfast of Champions! Our breakfast recipe was featured in the Governors' Breakfast Cookbook. Scrambled eggs, WG brown rice, sauteed spinach with fresh garlic, sliced fresh tomatoes, topped with crumbled bacon, and served with sriracha/ranch sauce! Delicious! 😋Students are still enjoying it to this day!
Those who have made it happen; Heather Fedoryk who has given us countless recipes to try & has given us the means to pursue this challenge! "The Breakfast Brigade"; Principal Mark Kirsten, teacher assistants Marie Barattucci, Jenna Otting & Linda Tringali. The lunch ladies; Barb Donegan, Cathy Horvay, Amanda Mulholland & myself. A great big thank you to all of you! ♥️
A shout out especially to our students at South who have remained curious over the last 3 years and keep trying new breakfast items. I have to say they have been very receptive and enjoy the different choices we offer them. Another great breakfast challenge in the books! Great job cafeteria ladies! Go, Buckhorns!
