With today's expected Severe Weather, we want to make sure everyone is prepared and "weather aware".
The National Weather Service predicts severe storms will hit our area this afternoon, sometime between 2-10pm, though the greatest risk window is between 4-8pm for our area.
HAVE A PLAN. There is a significant risk of tornado and damaging winds and hail for our area. Know where you need to go if we have a dangerous situation.
Charge your phones. Have supplies ready.

Also, for the TRUXTON AREA FOLKS:
- The basement of the Truxton Firehouse can be used as a storm shelter. Simply go to the door on the left side of the front of the house (towards the post office).
- It is not advised to come all the way out from nearby areas to Truxton. Dont drive thru the storms.

Our Hawk Point team was joined by Northwest Fire Protection District for some forcible entry training. Our teams worked together to learn and refine techniques for entering structures through doors that are locked or barricaded, enabling our teams to get in and rescue our people and attack fires.

Structure Fire in the early morning kept your Hawk Point Firefighters busy and a bit frozen. Crews were able to get the fire extinguished and no injuries to report. We would like to thank our mutual aid partners with their assistance on such a cold night. With the frigid temperatures it poses extra challenges to the fire fighting operations. Again Thank you to the following agencies: Lincoln County Fire Protection District Foley Fire Protection DistrictNorthwest Fire Protection DistrictWarrenton Fire Protection DistrictWright City Fire Protection DistrictLincoln County Ambulance District

Recently the team completed bailout and rescue training, further honing the skills required for quickly exiting a structure, should the environment deteriorate beyond acceptable standards.

The team worked on exiting via already available locations (windows) and awaiting rescue, or generating new exit locations, aka making holes in walls.

Training always furthers the skills our team has to help the people in our district... and often can be pretty fun as well. Nothing like swinging an axe through a wall!

This evening at 4:18pm your Hawk Point Firefighters were dispatched out for a structure fire west of town. Crews arrived on scene to find a residential home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof and eaves. With the assistance of Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1, Northwest Fire Protection District, Warrenton Fire Protection District,Winfield Foley Fire Protection District,Lincoln County Ambulance District,Lincoln County Sheriff's Office the fire was able to be extinguished with no injuries to report. Crews worked hard to battle the fire and also the temperatures that came with the evening. Unfortunately the home sustained significant damage, however all occupants were out of the structure before crews arrived Again we would like to extend our thanks for our neighboring departments for their assistance.

Yesterday, the Hawk Point team was called out to a structure fire. Arriving first on scene, our team quickly deployed to a fully involved structure, working to knock down the fire, as it was adjacent to a residence. The fire required multiple district's personnel and a tanker shuttle was setup, aided by neighboring districts, to constantly replenish our water supply so the fight could continue. After a few hours, our team was able to knock it down.

Big thanks to our neighbors, who remind us we are all one team:

Cool stuff that allows us to be ready to fight the fires, wherever they occur: Drop Tanks

As much of our community and covered area is outside of areas serviced by hydrants, not to mention our neighboring fire districts that need help from time to time, our team recently spent time learning and training with drop tanks.

Drop Tanks are one way that our team can shuttle and deploy large amounts of water at a time. In this instance, 3000 gallons can be dropped into this pool, from which the fire apparatus can draw from. Then, tankers can shuttle from hydrants and other water sources, and constantly replenish the tank.
