September is National Senior Center Month—a time to shine a spotlight on the vital role senior centers play in helping older adults live healthier, more connected lives.
This year’s theme—Happier Birthdays Happen Here—celebrates the moments, connections, and opportunities that help people not just live longer—but live well. Happier birthdays don’t start with candles or cake. They start with connection, purpose, support, and community.
Every day, people walk through the doors and find exactly that—friendships that matter, programs that energize, and resources that make each year stronger than the last.

Hancock County Senior Services will be spotlighting our Senior Centers throughout the month of September .
Wednesday-September 9th we will celebrate Dukes Senior Center located at 900 Happy Hollow Road, Hawesville. They meet the 2nd Wednesday each month for a potluck meal.
Thursday- September 17th our nutrition site at Pellville will be celebrated, they are located at South Hancock Fire Department at 12195 KY-2181 Hawesville and meet on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Monday September 28th we will celebrate Hawesville Senior Center located at 315 Ridgewood Drive, Hawesville.
Tuesday September 29th we will celebrate Lewisport Senior Center located at 4th & Market Street, Lewisport, KY and meet on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Hancock County Senior Services would like to invite you to visit the senior centers that we have in our community anytime!

Hancock County Senior Services is looking for an Americorp Member to join our team! Primary responsibility would be helping out with our meal delivery program, clerical duties, and assist with activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to your community helping older adults, while receiving a bi-weekly living allowance, earn education award money for yourself, or if over 55 you can pass on to a child or a grandchild. To achieve the 1700 hours needed to complete the program the average hours needed to work per week is 35. This is a great opportunity for young adults wanting to gain work experience while earning money toward college classes, retirees wanting to return to work in a fun, meaningful position, while earning money to supplement their retirement. For more information about the specific responsibilities at Hancock County Senior Services please call 270-927-8313.
