Havre Fire responded with a ladder truck last night at approximately 8:30pm for mutual aid for multiple buildings on fire in downtown Harlem. Crews remained on scene working for hours before returning to station at 2:00am. Fire crews did a good job keeping fire from extending to more adjacent structures.

Havre Fire on scene of a fire alarm earlier today. HFD responded for a fire alarm at Northern Montana Hospital and en route units were notified there was smoke in the elevator room as well as the first floor. Engine 1 and Rescue 6 arrived on scene and made entry to find smoke in the stairwell, first floor, and elevator maintenance room. Hospital personnel were on scene and notified crews that a motor for the elevator burned up and was the cause of all the smoke. Buildings and grounds had turned off the power to the unit quickly preventing any further damage. There were no injuries on scene and scene was turned back over to hospital personnel and all fire units cleared the scene after confirming there were no further hazards.

Twenty-five years ago today, the world changed in an instant. A quarter-century later, the memories remain vivid, the pain of those lost still resonates deeply, and the promise we made to one another endures.
Today, we pause to honor the 2,977 innocent souls whose lives were cut short at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a quiet field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We remember the extraordinary courage of the first responders who rushed toward danger, the selflessness of ordinary citizens who became heroes, and the resilient spirit that brought a nation together in the darkest of hours.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget

Thank your American Legion Havre Post 11 for putting on another great 9/11 ceremony.

Earlier this month Havre Firefighters had the opportunity to do more training at an acquired house. This training was made possible because Bullhook Community Health Center has so graciously let us use these houses for different trainings.

This training was searching for known victims in a 2nd story room that is tenable (meaning a room that people could survive in) and get them out. This scenario was set up to get firefighters inside a 2nd story bedroom, shut the door, then find both victims and get them down the ladder to the front lawn to safety. We hope to never have to do this on a real fire incident, but if we do we are well prepared to get someone out to safety both quickly and efficiently.

We will be doing many more trainings this fall and winter until these houses are torn down. Trainings on acquired homes do not come often so we really appreciate Bullhook Health for letting us use these.

Yesterday was another busy day for Havre Firefighters responding to 4 medical emergencies, 2 fire alarms, a power line down, and 2 grass fires on 3rd Street North.

Even with some moisture Saturday night, it is still dry out and fires are still a threat. Thankfully, these two fires were quickly knocked down by Havre Fire before spreading to any structures.

🔥Wildland Fire🚨

Last night at 5:44pm, Havre Fire was dispatched for a report of hay bales on fire off of County Road 836 NW. First arriving engine found three hay bales on fire with no immediate structures threatened by the bales. The high winds caused the fire to spread quickly to trees and light fuels which moved to open land and start spreading rapidly. Due to high winds and active fire behavior, immediate mutual aid was requested and an all-department callback for all off-duty fire personnel to assist was initiated. Thanks to the coordinated structure protection and aggressive fire attack efforts from HFD alongside multiple neighboring departments we were able to stop the forward spread at 115 total acres. The fire did come within feet of multiple structures, but was stopped before reaching any primary residences. The fire did however burn a vehicle and a couple out buildings. A total of 15 engines, 3 water tenders, and 6 support vehicles responded to the fire.

A huge thank you to our mutual aid agencies including Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department, Kremlin Volunteer Fire Department , Chinook Volunteer Fire Department, Wildhorse Volunteer Fire Department, and Montana DNRC. We would also like to thank our dispatchers at Havre Police Department, Montana Highway Patrol, Hill County Sheriff's Office, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks for traffic control and evacuations. Also on scene was NorthWestern Energy and Hill County Electric.

A big thank you to DNRC for bringing in a strike team of 6 apparatus out of Lewistown consisting of wildland engines and support vehicles to assist with mop up and monitoring the fire overnight. All Havre Fire apparatus were clear at 3:05am while DNRC remained on scene until 1030am when fire was turned back over to HFD.

We would also like to thank Pizza Hut of Havre for your generous donation of pizza for all personnel on scene assisting with the fire. We really appreciate you and everyone else who helped on the fire.

Cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

At 1538, Havre Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of 3rd Avenue for a report of a worker stuck in a boom truck about 25’ up and was not able to get down. Ladder 4 and Engine 1 responded while another crew was just clearing a lift assist medical call. Once on scene another medical emergency was dispatched, which was handled by the crew clearing the previous medical call. Ladder 4 and Engine 1 crews set up to rescue the worker from the bucket. Worker was assisted down with no further incident or injuries.

This is the second time today there have been multiple incidents at the same time. With more and more emergency incidents every year this unfortunately is something Havre Fire Department deals with on nearly a daily basis. With only one crew on duty to cover both the engine and ambulance we have to be proficient in our jobs and a lot of times work not only shorthanded, but quickly and efficiently to be able to respond to all emergency calls that come in.

Good job today B-Shift. Thank you to Havre Police Department for your assistance on scene as well. All units cleared the scene at 1555 and were available.

Busy day for Havre Firefighters so far. At 0623, HFD was dispatched for a report of trash on fire in a garbage truck in the area of the 1300 block of 6th Street North. En route crews could see a large smoke column from the station. On arrival crews found a large pile of garbage dumped on the ground that was fully involved. Crews extinguished the fire before clearing the scene and returning to the station at 0711. No structures or anything else was threatened from the fire.

Crews were dispatched for a carbon monoxide alarm at 0857 in the 1800 block of 2nd Street. While crews were getting ready for that call a medical emergency was dispatched to the 10 block of 13th Street West. Fortunately, today there are 4 firefighters on duty so two responded to the medical in the ambulance and two responded to the carbon monoxide alarm in Engine 1. Off-duty personnel were called to backfill the station for any additional calls.

Additionally, there have been multiple other medical responses today so far as well. Be safe Havre and know we are here for you 24/7/365.
