Mid-Atlantic Severe Weather Alert

Mid-Atlantic Severe Weather Alert MD Severe Weather Alert is a page created by a Baltimore area NOAA certified storm spotter.

Mid-Atlantic 24 Hour Information specializing in overnight and off hours severe weather Livestream coverage, also including public safety, driving and boating conditions reports This page will be used to alert people to severe, dangerous weather in the Maryland and outlying area. It will be available 24 hours 7 days a week year round to provide up to the minute information on severe weather event

s when they occur. A number of methods are used to update this info but will be made as simple and easy to understand as possible. This will include the Radarscope storm chasing app anyone can download and use, live storm spotter reports, local radar including airport radar, and when possible field observations and live first responder reports from monitor feeds in the area of the storms. I actively chase tornadoes and severe wind events also and report directly to the National Weather Service Office in Sterling VA and Mount Holly NJ for MD's eastern shore when possible. The goal of this page is to get warnings out as fast as possible or when no other pages and media are available, with updates to the minute during the event, 24 hours a day. I want to improve the speed of warnings in our area, especially after "normal business hours"... this has been a problem in our area for years. There will be SOME discussion of non life threatening weather events or news stories if it involves PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUES. There will be no advertising allowed, and there will be NO drama allowed in the posts. No personal information will be posted here (doxxing) no fatality reports, no political posts. REAL TIME, UP TO DATE ACCURATE INFORMATION FOR THE MID ATLANTIC AREA IN THE EVENT OF LIFE THREATENING WEATHER OR OTHER EVENTS INVOLVING PUBLIC SAFETY..

[Weds 4/8/26 4:04 pm] (updated 4/10 3:54 pm) (🚨⚠️ Very High Barometric Pressure Advisory! / Moderate barometric pressure shift!

We are currently in ⚠️ veryhigh barometric pressure! It has lowered some from earlier today but, we're still in very high barometric pressure! It was ⚠️ 1035 mb (30.56 hg) [recorded 4/8/26 at 11:31 am]!! It has since lowered to 1032 mb (30.47 hg) [4/8/26 4:04 pm at my location in Harford County, MD. ]

We've had an 11 mb (0.33 hg) increase ⬆️ in barometric pressure in the last 24 hours. We've gone from high barometric pressure 1024 mb (30.24 hg) to 1035 mb (30.56 hg) very high barometric pressure [recorded 4/8/26 - 11:31 am at my location in Harford County, MD. ]

While this is only a moderate shift in pressure and most people may not notice the shift. Those with barometric pressure issues are probably going to be feeling it, especially since we're currently in very high barometric pressure as well.

Even those individuals that don't normally experience problems from barometric pressure. Might be today because of the barometric pressure being very high!

⚠️Those with seizure disorders or that have friends, family members or pets that do You may want to keep an eye on them. Because, there is an increased risk for seizure activity with such a large shift! **The risk increases 3x for every 5.5 mb (0.16 hg)! ⚠️

If you would like to receive these alerts directly to your Facebook Messenger, please sign up for one of the broadcast channels by scrolling to the top of the Mid-Atlantic Severe Weather Alert. page. The first channel is utilized for regular hours. The Overnight Channel is then from after approximately 10:30 pm until 7:00 a.m. (* If you wish to receive the notifications but sometimes wish to mute the notification sound, there is an option within the settings to do so. )

Even a moderate change in pressure in a short period of time might also cause problems for people as the gases, fluids and tissues inside of our bodies as they are trying to adjust to outside Atmospheric Pressure. Which right now the heavier air, from the Very High Barometric Pressure is pushing down on everything. Including our bodies, compressing things more. Your body may even feel heavier due to it.

High-pressure systems often lead to "subsidence," where air sinks toward the ground. This can trap pollutants, allergens, or smoke near the surface (a temperature inversion). For individuals with asthma or COPD, this concentrated poor air quality can make breathing feel more labored.

While low pressure causes tissues to expand, high pressure exerts more external force on the body. Some individuals are highly sensitive to these shifts, and the change in pressure can cause a sensation of "heaviness" in the chest or sinuses as the body adjusts to the weight of the atmosphere.

High pressure usually brings very dry air. Dry air can irritate the mucous membranes in the nose and throat, potentially causing: Increased coughing. and a feeling of tightness in the chest and dry nasal passages.

The ocean and other bodies of water will have much lower tides than normal because, of this as well. Which can cause problems for Large Ships since, the water will be more shallow.

If you're feeling more tired than usual today or experiencing other issues, such as an increase in Pain level, Sinus Issues, Feeling Drained like you just got off of a long flight, Brain Fog, a "flare" of some medical conditions, as well as other problems the current Very High Barometric Pressure may be responsible for you not feeling your best.

Some of you have likely been feeling that swing in Pressure too. Because, it is not just Low or High Barometric Pressure that can cause problems for people. * Barometric pressure can also cause problems for pets or other animals as well!

If you would like to monitor the barometric pressure yourself and for those of you particularly that have problems with seizures, I would strongly recommend it! Below you will find a link to a post with a download link for the Barometer Plus app I use as well as setup instructions in the comments. That need to be followed to make sure it functions correctly. There is also an additional setting within the app that you can have it notify you if there's been much of a barometric pressure shift. 📌

[Sat 3/28/26 11:34 am] (updated 10:47 pm)🚨⚠️ Very High barometric pressure advisory! / ⚠️ Significant/ rapid barometric pressure shift!

We are currently in very high barometric pressure. We've also had a significant/ rapid increase ⬆️ in Barometric Pressure in the last 24 hrs! We've gone from normal barometric pressure 1015 mb (29.97 hg) to 1031 mb (30.44 hg) at my location [3/28/26 - 11:34 am] in Harford County, MD.

That is a significant / rapid increase in barometric pressure of
16 mb (0.47 hg) in the last 24 hours!

(I know everyone, I can literally hear your collective sighs, as you read this! Especially, since it's been less than 24 hours since I've made one of these posts! Sorry folks!)

It's March so this kind of stuff is typical for this time of year, unfortunately. The earliest that I would expect things to stabilize would potentially be late April (20th - 30th). However, we should get some breaks here and there. But, according to long range forecasting models, Things may not stabilize until Mid-May. Once the Atlantic Ocean waters get warmer . As I explained in another post yesterday.

⚠️Those with seizure disorders or that have friends, family members or pets that do You may want to keep an eye on them. Because, there is an increased risk for seizure activity with such a large shift! **The risk increases 3x for every 5.5 mb (0.16 hg)! ⚠️

[Fri 3/27/26 5:29 pm] Since I know that a lot of you have been asking when the weather patterns will become more stable/ calmer?

True atmospheric stability—usually arrives once the jet stream migrates further north and the Atlantic waters begin to warm.

Granted the normal weather patterns that occur this time of year as well as models. The earliest I would expect to see things settle down would be: Late April (April 20th–30th): This is when the frequency of "cold shots" typically diminishes. In the Mid-Atlantic region the last frost date ranges from April 4th to April 24th, depending on specific elevation and local microclimates.

However most long-range models suggest a more consistent "locking in" of warmer, more stable patterns by mid-May. May is currently forecast to have normal precipitation and slightly above-average temperatures, indicating a return to more predictable seasonal behavior. -Jen

[Friday 3/27//26 - 3:15 pm] (edited 5:24 pm)⚠️ Significant Rapid Barometric Pressure Shift!

We've had a significant/ rapid increase ⬆️ in Barometric Pressure in the last 24 hrs! We've gone from low barometric pressure
1002 mb (29.58 hg) to normal barometric pressure 1016 mb (29.70 hg) at my location [3/27/26 - 3:26] pm in Harford County, MD.

A lot of you have likely been feeling that swing in Pressure too. Because, it is not just Low or High Barometric Pressure that can cause problems for people. Most people are not going to have issues from this however.

Some of you may have had trouble sleeping/ pain or other issues last night because of when the pressure dropped low and may have started feeling poor today because of all the such a significant shift in barometric pressure.

Mother Nature isn't letting us off this ride yet folks! Strap-in!

Some medical conditions/ symptoms that I've listed in previous posts will "flare" until the current conditions . It may be responsible for you not feeling your best.

There was a long post I made At the end of January this year where I basically wrote medical paper explaining all the symptoms that barometric pressure can cause. It was about low barometric pressure but a lot of this things included in that post still apply to the situation as well. Especially because we were in Low barometric pressure last night.

I'm going to link it here below because it's entirely too long to include all that information in this post. 📌
