This past weekend, our community gathered at the Moore Family Homestead for the dedication of Harford County’s very own Liberty Tree, featuring remarks from Mayor Martin, Brigitte Carty (Executive Director at Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway), Dr. Amy Rosenkrans (Chair of the Havre de Grace 250 Commission), Council Member Jacob Bennett (District F), and Director of Administration Robert McCord, who spoke on behalf of County Executive Bob Cassilly.

As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the Maryland Liberty Tree Project is planting a living piece of history in every county, and this unique sapling is a direct genetic descendant of Maryland’s original 1775 Liberty Tree in Annapolis where colonists once gathered to dream of freedom. Now, generations of Havre de Grace residents and visitors alike will get to watch this powerful symbol of liberty, resilience, and civic unity grow right here in our own backyard.

Last evening, Mayor Martin and Council Member Clarke had the honor of attending the graduation ceremony for the second class of the Havre de Grace Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

We are incredibly proud of these dedicated volunteers who stepped up to complete this vital safety training. Thanks to their hard work, Havre de Grace is an even safer, more resilient place to call home.

When disaster strikes, CERT members are trained in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Please join us in congratulating our newest CERT graduates!

Road Work - Bayview Estates
If you received a notification today regarding the roadwork, please disregard that notice. The Department of Public Works will hand deliver an updated notice Wednesday morning.

The paving portion of the Bayview Estates Phase III paving project will begin this Thursday, June 11, 2026 on Lighthouse Court and continue onto Brian Garth, Roosevelt Court, Hutchins Court, and Wilfong Court. The project will take approximately 7-10 days to complete and will consist of a 2” mill of the existing road surfaces and a 2” overlay. Patching of 3” to 5” may occur in some areas. This process will cause minor disruptions to traffic in and out of your neighborhoods during the work hours of 7 am to 5 pm. We ask that your vehicles be parked in your driveways during the work hours. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause, but we are confident that everyone will be satisfied with the end result. You may contact the Department of Public Works if you have any questions or concerns at 410-939-1800 ext. 1135. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
