With increasing unemployment and under employment rates in our county and there for city we need to continue to lower our property taxes to help our citizens during this difficult financial times..

I am not hiding, the icon represents the issue, where as my picture would not. I do not beleive in all the increased taxes, fees and water and sewer rates, like Councilman Cullum supports. We cannot continue to balance our budget by carrying over funds from the previous budget because things were not done the previous year. Sooner or later these things will have to be done and then probably will be at a higher cost.

(part 5of 9) 4. What kind of message does this send to our State Representatives when on one hand we are asking them to restore these lost revenues, and even to grant new ways for municipalities to obtain revenues and on the other hand say we are in such good shape we can afford to lower our property tax rate and give our employees a COLA. This seems a little counter productive to me.

Councilman Cullum supports... (part 4 of 9): 3. We now know that we will not see a return of the reduction in State Highway User Fees for at least the next two budget years, and possibly not then. Unlike when we suffered the State Revenue cuts several years ago that caused the raise in the property tax rate, this time we have survived even with doing a reduction in the property tax rate last year.

Councilman Cullum supports no property tax reductions reasons (part 2 of 9):. 1. We have now returned to the citizens the entire ten cent increase that we were forced to impose about seven years ago, because of cuts in State Revenues at that time. Both Mayor Dougherty and I were Council Members at the time and pledged that we would return it as quickly as possible.
