It is with deep regret that the Officers and Members of Relief Hose Co No 3 announce the passing of 60-year member, Ex Chief Anthony “Tony” Defeciani. Tony served the firehouse and community in many ways including as company Chaplain. In this role Tony’s compassion for others shone.

Tony was known for his unwavering dedication, often seen hurrying down the block toward the firehouse, determined that no alarm would go unanswered. His commitment was as constant as his presence.

A master carpenter by trade, Tony quite literally shaped the firehouse itself, building and rebuilding its walls over the years—leaving his craftsmanship, care, and spirit within them. His legacy lives on in the firehouse he loved and the community he faithfully served.

The company will be holding firematic services at Holt Funeral Home on New Main Street, Haverstraw, on Tuesday January 6th at 6:30pm. His funeral mass and service will be held at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church on Broadway in Haverstraw on Wednesday January 7th at 10AM with burial immediately following.

The order of the day will be full dress uniform.

Rest Easy Tony, we will take it from here.

His funeral mass and service will be held at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church on Broadway in Haverstraw on Tuesday December 30th at 10AM with burial immediately following.

Early this morning members were joined by SW Johnson SFE Co No 1, West Haverstraw Fire Dept 23 Vol Hose Company 2, Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services and Haverstraw PD in conducting a Railroad Response Drill on Route 9W. This drill was key towards pre-planning before an emergency happens. Thanks to everyone that helped.

Later that afternoon members participated in the Latin Day Parade in the Village. All in a days work for our Volunteer firefighters.

If you are interested in joining, stop down your local firehouse.

This past week a few of our members and Rescue Hook and Ladder Co.1 conducted pre-planning drills in areas with little fire hydrant coverage. Members took the time to flow test new hydrants to see how they would operate in an emergency.

If you’re interested in learning more, stop by the firehouse any Monday night at 7pm.
