Drawing a map of your property and identifying the approximate locations of features that are important to you may help you learn more about your woodlot. If you wish, use crayons, markers and different colors on your map. Don’t worry about accuracy – this is an exercise to help you think about what is unique, important or what you need to know more about your land. Feel free to share this with your Extension County Forester and schedule and woodlot visit today! Click the link in comments to learn more.

We're thrilled MVPC received this funding to help Haverhill and our surrounding communities build resilience to a warming climate!

Merrimack Valley Region, September 10th, 2026 - MVPC is excited to announce that it has been awarded $190,676 in MVP Action Grant funding from the Healey-Driscoll Administration to support regional climate resilience efforts focused on extreme heat in the Merrimack Valley.

Working with pilot communities in Groveland, Haverhill, and Newburyport, along with regional and statewide partners, MVPC will collect data, map heat impacts, and engage community members to better understand lived experiences during hotter summers.

This work will help communities identify priority areas for heat mitigation and develop locally driven strategies that support public health, safety, and climate resilience.

DPW is making progress on the new parking lot at Winnekenni Castle! The area behind the Carriage House has been regraded will be resurfaced with crushed stone. The grid system you see in the photos will lock the gravel in place creating a durable, stable surface for parking and walking. Thank you, Lisa Marzilli, for taking some photos and picking up litter around the park!

Join us for Haverhill’s second annual Shoreline Cleanup Day!

Last year we removed over 40 trash bags and three dump trucks’ worth of litter and debris from the city’s waterfront. This year we need YOU to help us top those numbers.

Bring a friend and let’s team up to show our shoreline some love 💙
