Some of you may notice while you're out and about over the next few days that the Fire Department is laying out a large amount of hose and filling it with water. We would like to assure you all that this is not without reason, especially during the current drought conditions.

We are conducting our annual hose testing.

🚒 Annual fire hose testing is about more than maintaining equipment—it's about protecting our firefighters and the community they serve.

NFPA 1962 requires fire hose to be inspected and service tested annually to ensure it performs reliably under the extreme conditions of emergency operations. A hose failure during a fire can delay critical firefighting efforts, place firefighters at greater risk, and impact our ability to protect lives and property.

By regularly testing and maintaining our hose, we help ensure that when residents call 911, our crews have dependable equipment ready to deliver the water needed to safely and effectively respond to emergencies.

Members of the Haverhill Fire Department, Haverhill Police, and Pridestar Trinity EMS Ambulance participated in mock disaster drills this week organized by Haverhill High School and Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School.

These realistic drills were designed to send a powerful message to senior students about the very real and devastating consequences of drinking and driving. One poor decision behind the wheel can change lives forever — impacting not only the driver, but passengers, families, friends, and the entire community.

We hope students walked away understanding the importance of making responsible choices, planning ahead, and never driving impaired. We applaud the collaborative effort of everyone involved in helping educate and protect our young people.

Farmer & Sons Funeral Home
Driscoll Funeral Home,
110 Towing also assisted with the exercises.
