Cities and towns that value public education pay to fund it. This doesn’t necessarily mean an override, but paying for schools DOES need to be prioritized.

Prop 2½ caps how much towns can raise in property taxes – anything above 2.5% requires an override vote. When overrides fail, schools see the consequences: layoffs, bigger class sizes, and fewer resources for students.

Stoneham is heading to the polls on Tuesday, joining many communities now facing tough choices as costs rise and revenues stay capped.

‼️ BREAKING: More than 1,000 municipal leaders, superintendents, school committee members, educators, and community partners are calling on Governor Maura Healey and the state Legislature to take action to address the fiscal crisis facing public schools across the Commonwealth.

🆘 Today, a delegation delivered a letter, signed by 1075 leaders from across the state, to the governor calling for an immediate fix to the statewide school funding crisis.
