Due to challenging and unsafe road conditions across our county, Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5 will be remote learning days (asynchronous) for all students and staff.

Once a decision is made regarding Friday, February 6, that information will be shared as soon as possible to allow everyone time to plan.

Closure Update:

City of Havelock City Hall will open tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4th at 10 a.m.

Please note the following City facilities will remain closed on Wednesday, February 4th:

Recreation Center
TEC
Senior Center
Animal Control

The City of Havelock appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our residents and staff. Additional updates will be shared as they become available.

A Message from GFL:

GFL will resume operations on Wednesday, February 4th. Please be advised that crews will be operating at a reduced speed due to ice and snow on secondary roads, which may prevent service in certain areas.

To ensure all municipalities are serviced by Saturday, GFL will provide trash collection only for the remainder of this week. We will begin with Monday’s scheduled routes and continue catching up throughout the week.

- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Customers: Please place your trash cart out on Wednesday and leave it until it has been serviced.
- Thursday and Friday Customers: Please place your trash cart out on your regularly scheduled service day.

Recycling services will not be provided this week and will resume on your next regularly scheduled date. Any overflow recycling may be placed in a cardboard box or paper bag next to your cart for collection at that time.

City offices will OPEN on a regular schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4.

Lawson Creek Park & Martin Marietta Park will be CLOSED tomorrow (Wednesday). Glenburnie Park will be OPEN. Other parks will have limited access. Check the Parks & Recreation page on our website at www. NewBernNC.gov or their page City of New Bern Parks and Recreation for more information.

If your trash and/or recycling pickup is a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday route, please put your receptacles out tonight 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲.. We know it may be difficult to see where the edge of the road is with all the snow, but we want to ensure the "arms" of the trucks can reach them & that no one gets skipped tomorrow with three big routes on the schedule. If your receptacle is too far back, the drivers may not be able to gauge where your driveway starts & stops or where other elements of your property exist. Let's make sure everyone stays safe (including the trucks & equipment) & put your receptacles out, properly placed, for tomorrow's pickup! As a reminder, GFL plans to catch up on all routes by Saturday, February 7th.
