Help keep our community safe this summer:

βœ… Keep a safe distance when lighting fireworks
βœ… Never allow children to handle fireworks or sparklers
βœ… Use fireworks only in open areas away from homes, vehicles, and dry vegetation
βœ… Keep water, a hose, or a fire extinguisher nearby
βœ… Never relight malfunctioning fireworks

βœ… Follow local laws and avoid fireworks during drought conditions

Let's celebrate responsibly and prevent injuries, lost pets, and wildfires. Stay safe and have a happy holiday! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

After the Great Lakes Fire of 2023, the Croatan Area Fireshed Partnership formed from a group of partners who are working to reduce the impacts of wildfires near the Croatan National Forest.

Collectively, we’ve completed over 16,500 rapid wildfire risk assessments in Craven County from September 2025 to February 2026.

Please help us ensure homeowner voices count! When you receive a household survey from us, please complete the survey and mail it back using the postage paid envelope.

The data collected from the survey will help the Croatan Area Fireshed Partnership understand how to best support residents and properties for wildfires in the future.

The data collected through the survey will NOT be used for tax purposes or to force anyone to take action of any sort. It will help us better plan for, prepare, and live with wildfire in our communities.

πŸš‘β€οΈ Happy EMS Week! β€οΈπŸš‘

As a combination department, we provide both fire and EMS, answering calls for help at all hours of the day and night. Whether it is a medical emergency, serious trauma, fire response, vehicle accident, or simply someone having the worst day of their life, our crews are there to respond with skill, compassion, and professionalism.

What many people do not see is the amount of work, education, and commitment it takes to become an EMT or paramedic, and even more effort to maintain those credentials year after year.

Our providers complete hundreds to thousands of hours of education, clinical training, testing, continuing education, certifications, scenario training, skills verification, and ongoing competency requirements to continue serving at a high level. Medicine is constantly evolving, and we continually train to stay prepared for the next emergency.

EMS is more than ambulances and sirens. It is critical thinking under pressure, compassionate patient care, teamwork, communication, and a commitment to serving others on some of the hardest days of their lives.

This EMS Week, we are especially proud of our HFR EMS providers and our colleagues who serve our communities across the nation every single day with dedication, professionalism, and compassion.
