Your home should be one of the safest places for you and your family. Take a few minutes to review these important safety checks:
🧯 FIRE EXTINGUISHER - Keep a fire extinguisher in an easily accessible location, especially in or near the kitchen. Make sure everyone knows how to use it. Fire extinguishers can be purchased at most hardware, home improvement, and general retail stores. If a fire is spreading quickly or producing heavy smoke get out and call 911 rather than trying to fight it.
🚨 DRYER SAFETY - Clean the lint trap after every load and periodically check/clean the dryer vent. Don’t run the dryer while you’re away or asleep.
🏃 HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN - Know and keep in mind the quickest ways to get yourself and others OUT of your residence.
⚡ ELECTRICAL SAFETY - Don’t overload outlets or power strips. Replace damaged cords and don’t run extension cords under rugs or through doorways.
🕯️ CANDLE SAFETY - Keep candles away from anything flammable and never leave them burning unattended. Consider flameless candles as a safer alternative.
🔥 SPACE HEATERS - Keep space heaters at least 4 feet away from anything that can burn. Plug them directly into a wall outlet and turn them off when leaving the room or going to sleep.
