Last night, our crews took the opportunity to train on two critical aspects of our profession. Firefighters focused on advancing hose lines up multi-story stairways, while our driver/operators practiced pumping those lines and learned techniques for flowing multiple elevated lines simultaneously.

We are proud of our members’ continued dedication to developing their skills and their unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten.

At Bossier Parish Fire District 1, we remember those who gave everything in service to our country and stand grateful for the freedoms we enjoy because of them.

May we always carry their legacy forward with honor, respect, and remembrance. 🇺🇸

This week, our Training Division, with support from Operations personnel, provided fire extinguisher refresher training to more than 80 employees at Calumet Refinery- Princeton. Participants completed classroom instruction through a PowerPoint presentation followed by hands-on live fire scenarios that allowed them to apply their knowledge in real-world situations.

We are always committed and prepared to support our community partners in any way possible, because a fire-ready community is a safer community.

On May 4th at 9:19 am, our department was dispatched to Bellevue Road behind the Shield Storage facility for a commercial structure fire at the cell tower.

First arriving units found a generator with a large amount of smoke pushing from the top of it but no structures were on fire or in danger. Command units contacted the company involved and access was made to the generator where units removed a panel door and shut the system down. 2 Engines, 1 Rescue and 2 Chiefs responded.

This is a reminder of the unique and often challenging array of emergency calls that our department gets called to every single day, requiring our members to be trained to the highest level and ready for anything at all times!

Congratulations are in order for two of our own.

Today, Captain William Smart (C Shift) and Captain Jeffrey Hardy (Training) both graduated from the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Academy after two years of attendance, obtaining the designation of “Certified Fire Executive.”

There are fewer than 100 of these designations within the state, and three of them come from within our department—proving that our members strive for excellence and growth every single day.

We would also like to congratulate the other members of Northwest Louisiana and all across our great state who graduated today!

Last week, four of our firefighter were given the opportunity to attend the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This opportunity was made possible by the Olinde-Porche Legacy scholarship that our firefighters received from the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association last year.

Captain Dale Hardy, Captain Jeffrey Hardy, Firefighter Jc Calhoun and Firefighter Jac Calhoun used this scholarship to obtain education and experience with instructors from all over the country that they will bring back to our members, expanding our education on forward thinking tactics and skills!
