Good Morning,

The NWS in Jackson has all of Forrest County under a Significant Threat (3 out of 4) for flash flooding today. Forrest County is currently under a Flash Flood Warning until 845 am. An additional 4 to 8 inches of rainfall will be possible today. This could lead to widespread flash flooding. Numerous roads could be flooded, closed or washed out. There is also a marginal risk (1 out of 4) for brief spin up tornadoes.

Good Afternoon,

Tropical Storm Arthur has formed in the southwest Gulf of America. Forrest County will not see any wind threats from Arthur but will see plenty of flooding threats. The NWS has placed all of Forrest County under a Significant Flash Flood Threat (3 out of 4) until Thursday afternoon. 4 to 8 inches of additional rainfall is expected. This rainfall should begin around midnight and last through the day on Thursday. Widespread flash flooding is likely with numerous roads flooded, closed or washed away. The is also a marginal threat (1 out of 4) for brief spin up weak tornadoes.

The National Weather Service has placed Forrest County under a Significant threat (3 out of 4) chance for Flash Flooding tonight through Thursday.
Widespread flash flooding is possible with an additional 4-7" of rain expected.
NWS has also placed Forrest County under a Marginal threat (1 out of 5) for Severe Weather after midnight tonight through Friday afternoon as a tropical system pushes across the area.
Isolated severe storms possible, damaging winds up to 60 mph and brief, weak tornados possible.

The NWS in Jackson has placed all of Forrest County in an elevated threat risk (2 out of 4) for flash flooding this week. 3 to 5 inches of rain with locally heavier amounts will be possible today through Thursday night. This will lead to likely flash flooding conditions. We will be monitoring the Gulf of America to see if a weak Tropical Storm Arthur will form. If Arthur does form we will have no wind threats here just additional heavy rain.

All of Forrest County is under a Flash Flood Watch until 7 pm on Thursday. We will continue to monitor this potential flooding event and provide updates as necessary. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call.
