It’s Social Workers’ Appreciation Month, and today the court team and I expressed our appreciation and gratitude to the social workers of Forrest County CPS during our Annual Appreciation Luncheon. We thank our special guests, Hattiesburg City Councilman Eric Boney and Ms. Delories Williams of DW Consulting and Training for bringing powerful and uplifting words of encouragement and gratitude to our social workers!!

I also want to send a very special thank you to our court’s very own social workers, Ms. Josie Brown and Ms. Britnie Gray - the Dynamic Duo! And thanks so much to my staff for helping make this event more special every year!!

Every Tuesday at the courthouse, something powerful happens. 💙

Our Mentor Program brings together dedicated volunteers from our community who pour nothing but positivity, wisdom, and encouragement into our kids.

Through real-life lessons and personal stories, our mentors inspire our youth to listen, learn, and believe in their own potential. We are incredibly grateful for the consistent commitment of Michael Jordan, Arvelle Carey, and Carlos Twillie, whose presence and guidance make a lasting impact.

Last night, we were honored to welcome a special guest, former professional baseball player Anthony Alford, who shared his incredible journey of challenges, resilience, perseverance, and the importance of support from loved ones. His story was a powerful reminder that setbacks don’t define us—determination does.

A heartfelt thank you as well to our youth services specialists and courthouse staff who continue to support and participate in this program. It truly takes a village, and we are grateful for every person who shows up for our kids!!

Every year, our court team volunteers at Christian Services to help them prepare to feed folks in our community for Thanksgiving. We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve in this way! This year, we were on dessert duty and cranberry sauce duty and we loved every minute of it!! Happy Thanksgiving to all from the Forrest County and Youth Court!!

Last week, our Youth Court team had the joy of hosting an Appreciation Lunch for the incredible county departments that help us serve kids and families every day.

From our maintenance crew who keep our building running safely, to the many support departments who step in whenever we need them — we truly could not do this work without you.

Your dedication behind the scenes makes a real difference in the lives of the children and families who come through our doors. Thank you for your partnership, your hard work, and your commitment to our community.

We appreciate you more than you know! 🙌
