Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms, potentially severe, are expected across the plains this afternoon. The strongest storms will be capable of producing hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter, wind gusts over 60 mph, along with a tornado or two.

⚡️⚡️⛈️Sever Thunderstorm Warning for Bent County until 3:15 p.m. Source radar indicated!! Hazards include winds to 60 mph and up to quarter sized hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected as well as wind damage to roofs, siding and trees. ⛈️⛈️⛈️

Thunderstorms are expected over parts of the area this afternoon and evening, some of which may be strong to severe. Best chances for storms will be over the eastern plains. Main hazards include large hail, damaging winds, and maybe a tornado or two. More info to come, so keep an eye on the latest forecast!

Still expecting dangerous fire weather conditions across the NM border today. Humidity values 5-10% will combine with southwest winds gusting to near 50 mph will produce dangerous conditions, especially over Baca County. Avoid anything that could spark a wildfire!

Current estimates have this fire near 28,500 acres. Conditions have calmed somewhat so we are thankful for that. Our current position is near the Campo cemetery fighting fire to the south and east.

Writing this on a water and diesel refill for anyone who wonders why we are Facebooking instead of fighting fire 😁

Our agency has sent two brush trucks and a tender south to Baca County to aid with the fires total personnel five.

🚩🚩🚩 Red Flag Warning today 🚩🚩🚩 please avoid any outdoor activities that can produce sparks or flames!!!

Fire weather concerns will be present through the weekend for portions of southern Colorado. Winds will be out of the southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with the strongest winds on Sunday. Humidity values will fall to under 10% Avoid anything that could spark a fire!

Hasty McClave Fire Protection District is sending one brush truck and two firefighters to aid Baca County with the fires south of Campo.

Edit: Authorities were able to stand down multiple agencies prior to arrival on scene including our crew.
