Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY) students spent 2 hours of their busy week packing meals at Hearts & Hands. One of HOBY’s goals is to help students make a positive impact on the world around them, and they did so by helping feed hungry kids. Great to work with these young leaders of tomorrow.

The second group of Eighth Graders from Hastings Middle School packed meals today (127 students) and packed 35,226 meals. Together, the Monday & Wednesday groups packed 70,218 meals. Wow! What a great group of students, working hard to help feed hungry kids. Hearts & Hands Against Hunger would like to thank Orphan Grain Train of Norfolk for sponsoring this event.

Give Hastings Day is Thursday, May 7th, and is hosted by the Hastings Community Foundation. Community members are encouraged to donate to local nonprofit organizations on May 7th. Early donations can be made starting now. Hearts & Hands Against Hunger is asking for your support. We're Celebrating 10 Million Meals Packed for Hungry Kids! That's the number we reached yesterday at Hearts & Hands Against Hunger, thanks to the help of the Hastings High School National Honor Society. We were happy to have the area Corvette Club packing meals at Hearts & Hands Against Hunger recently. The boxes of food they packed helped complete the big shipment of meals picked up by Orphan Grain Train last week. The food should be received by hungry kids within three months.

FBLA, FCA and NHS students from Sandy Creek High School packed 36,720 meals yesterday morning! They were moving so fast that our volunteers had trouble keeping up with them! They also presented HHAH with a donation check to help us purchase supplies. Thank you to all of them for a job well done!
