Yesterday, we had the chance to spend time at Beyond the Yellow Ribbon - Rosemount, MN second annual Patriots in the Park event.

It was a great day connecting with veterans, military families and community members who came together to honor those who have served. Events like this are a meaningful reminder of the strong connection between veterans and public service.

A special thank you to our Drone Team for providing overwatch during the event and helping keep everyone safe.

Our hearts are with Minnesota State Patrol as they grieve an unimaginable loss. No one should have to carry life’s challenges alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline for support.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Lt. Tyler Uthe, a respected leader, a dedicated servant and friend. His loss is being felt deeply across our agency and by all who had the privilege to serve alongside him.

Our thoughts are with Tyler’s family, friends, loved ones and fellow troopers during this incredibly difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy as they grieve.

As we mourn Tyler’s loss, we are reminded that even those who spend their lives helping others sometimes need help themselves. No one should have to carry life's challenges alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline for support.

Tyler’s impact on this agency and the lives he touched will not be forgotten.

From May 29 through June 2, there have been 23 suspected overdoses and two suspected fatal overdoses within Dakota County borders.

We are sharing this information to urge the public to stay alert and take precautions.

If you or someone you know uses substances:

• Carry naloxone/Narcan
• Call 911 immediately if someone is unresponsive, has slow or stopped breathing, blue lips or fingertips, or cannot be awakened
• Check on loved ones who may be at risk
• Assume any street drug could contain fentanyl

The average person experiences 3 traumatic events in their lifetime while those in law enforcement experience 160 to 170 in their career (20 years on avg).

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we sat down with our Crisis team to talk about mental health and the stigma behind it.
