Have you ever seen this Florida native? It's buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) -- a perennial shrub that thrives in moist, wet, or flooded environments. It is easily recognized by its unique, fragrant, spherical white flowers that look like pincushions.
It typically grows 10-20 feet tall and 6-12 feet wide. It is an excellent nectar source for butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. The seed heads provide food for waterfowl and songbirds.
It can be found in the Garden's Nature Preserve, so come and see if you can find it.
