The first Hastings City Council meeting back at City Hall, 615 W. Third St., will be Monday, Sept. 14. There will be a special meeting at 6 p.m., with public hearings for the 2026-2027 budget and property tax request. Thanks to everyone who participated in the stair climb and community walk Friday evening as part of Sept. 11 remembrance activities. Thanks to Hastings Museum and Highland Park for providing a nice location for the event. We had a great turnout for the event! The Zion Classic Academy Children’s Choir sang the National Anthem. More than 50 people did the climb and about as many did the community walk. First responder departments represented included Hastings Fire & Rescue, Hastings Police Department - Nebraska, Hastings Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Juniata Volunteer Fire Department, Nebraska Fire Marshal, Glenvil Volunteer Fire Department and Sutton Volunteer Fire Department -Nebraska,
