The Kaleidoscope Kids program at Hillside Elementary recently celebrated the end of a successful first year!

Led by Ms. Jada Dickens and Ms. Marisa Barbera, the program brought students from different grade levels together to build friendships, play games, explore the arts, and celebrate what makes each person unique. To mark the occasion, members of the Hastings High School Affinity Club hosted a special end-of-year celebration featuring pizza, a potluck, and plenty of fun.

Students shared that their favorite part of the program was the friendships they made along the way. Congratulations to everyone involved in making the inaugural year of Kaleidoscope Kids such a meaningful and memorable experience! đź’šđź’›

🇺🇸🎉 Hillside Elementary School proudly celebrated America’s 250th birthday with a festive schoolwide event. Students participated in engaging learning experiences, creative projects, and patriotic activities that helped them explore our nation’s history, geography, innovations, and enduring values.

This morning our students participated in a joyful schoolwide parade and patriotic presentation, where they proudly shared their learning through music, artwork, and displays. Families joined the celebration as students sang patriotic songs and made special birthday wishes for America. We are especially grateful to the Hastings-on-Hudson PTSA for generously providing commemorative event t-shirts, helping to make the day even more memorable.

The event was a meaningful tribute to our nation’s milestone birthday and a wonderful example of the Respect, Courage, and Curiosity that make Hillside such a special community. ❤️🤍💙

Our Farragut Middle School eighth graders enjoyed an unforgettable day in New York City as part of their annual end-of-year trip!

Students spent the morning bowling and playing games at Chelsea Piers before boarding a lunch cruise around Manhattan and New York Harbor. 🌆🎳

A special thank you to the Eighth Grade Team Leader Dr. Ken Cotrone and the FMS faculty, the excursion provided students with an opportunity to celebrate their middle school journey together before moving on to high school. 🎉🗽

Hillside students recently enjoyed a special visit from local author Bob McKinnon, who shared his book America’s Dreaming with third- and fourth-grade students and answered thoughtful questions about reading, writing, and the life of an author. 📚

Mr. McKinnon also generously donated a red wagon filled with books to the Hillside library, inspired by a meaningful scene from his book. Thank you to Bob McKinnon for volunteering his time and inspiring our young readers, and to Hastings High School senior Adelaide Lew for assisting with the presentation.

A special thank you to Learning Commons (ILC) teacher Dianna Clarke for coordinating this memorable experience for our students!

🎒✨ Our Kindergarten teachers welcomed our incoming kindergarteners today!

Our newest students got a sneak peek at life in kindergarten as they listened to a story read by Principal Cazes, explored their future classrooms, and enjoyed engaging tabletop activities with new friends. They even had the opportunity to hop on a school bus and take a ride, helping them feel ready for the year ahead!

We can't wait to welcome them back in September for an exciting year filled with learning, growth, and new adventures!

On Saturday, June 6, Hastings High School's first-year Science Research students, under the guidance of program coordinators Ms. Melissa Shandroff and Ms. Faye Barenfeld, showcased their proposed research projects at the prestigious Somers Science Fair. This unique event provided students with the opportunity to present their research plans in a formal, competitive setting, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed for future scientific inquiry.

This year’s fair featured an impressive 868 projects from dozens of regional high schools, including 67 presentations from Hastings students. Their participation reflects the strength of the Science Research program and the dedication of both students and faculty. Special thanks to Christina Gagliardi, Maryanne Gocmen, William Lederman for participating as judges at the fair.
