Students may wear a yellow or gold shirt with uniform bottoms!!

JP Schools 💛 Wear Yellow for Childhood Cancer Awareness 💛

On Wednesday, September 9, we’re encouraging all students and staff to wear yellow shirts, bows, pins, socks, or other creative touches to show support.

Let’s stand together in solidarity with children across the state and with our own students who are courageously battling cancer every day.

Governor Jeff Landry has proclaimed this day as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in Louisiana.

We are together! 💙

Roylena Humphries-Tate is a sixth-grade ELA and social studies teacher at Woodmere Elementary who believes every child deserves someone who believes in them. Now in her fourth year of teaching, she is passionate about helping students grow academically while encouraging them to recognize their own potential.
For Roylena, one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching students build confidence throughout the school year. She strives to motivate her students, provide extra support whenever they need it, and remind them they are capable of achieving great things.

As both a CASA advocate and a mental health professional, Roylena understands the importance of being a positive voice for students. She is grateful for the support of her administrators and colleagues, who encourage and celebrate the work happening in her classroom every day.

"I want my students to remember that I never underestimated them. I believed in them, encouraged them, and always pushed them to be their best." -Roylena Humphries-Tate
