Company Training

Last night, your Harvest Volunteers were out in the streets working on Engine and Truck Company operations. This training focused on crew riding assignments, apparatus placement, estimating the stretch, bulk bed hose deployment, and maximizing the Truck scrub area. We also had the pleasure of meeting several members of the Harvest community as they watched the drills.

April 2026 Run Stats

April was our busiest month to date, highlighting the continued climb in emergency services demands across our area. Alongside the increased emergency call volume, your Harvest Volunteers remained committed to sharpening their skills through in house hands-on training and completing Alabama Fire College certifications.
We’re proud of the dedication shown by our members and thankful for the continued support from our community.

Monopoly Truck To The Roof

This weekend, your Harvest Volunteers were out in Truck 1 working on apparatus positioning, with a focus on bucket placement to the roof of commercial structures. Crews worked on making roof access over a parapet wall that prevented the bucket from being placed close to the roof surface.
When you train in the same neighborhoods you serve, you build familiarity. Crews are able to increase their knowledge on building construction, target hazards, and access issues that can’t be fully understood from a map. That knowledge boosts confidence and leads to faster, more effective decisions and operations on an emergency scene. Drilling in real environments helps to build muscle memory, so when a real call comes in, actions are automatic instead of hesitant, as members have already encountered these situations in a low stress training environment.

Today at Sparkman High School, your Harvest Volunteers had the opportunity to participate in the Spring Fling event.
Interacting with local members of our community, letting children climb up into the Engine, ask questions, and light up with excitement… This same type of outreach is what ignited the passion for the fire service for many of our current members when they were younger. That’s the hope for the future. And that’s the bond between a fire department and the community it protects. For those who came out, thank you and it was a pleasure to meet you!
