The Otsego County Mobile DMV satellite office in Hartwick, announced in August 2025, has been discontinued for underutilization and has now moved to Richfield Springs. Credit to the DMV for attempting to improve accessibility, including providing Passport Fairs throughout the County.

Our next educational program is coming up this Thursday, September 10, at 6:30 pm at Hartwick's Kinney Memorial Library.

The Association's Treasurer, Gene Mayne, will host a presentation on the Burlington Flats Cemetery Project; a $10,000 initiative that features the replacement of markers for Revolutionary War veterans, the repair and resetting of headstones that are in need, the placement of a message center bulletin board, and a booklet that highlights the 16 graves of Revolutionary veterans.

The program will conclude with a brief history of Burlington's most famous citizen, Jedediah Peck.

After the program, we encourage additional conversation about the topic as we serve light refreshments.

Please join us this Thursday night at 6:30 pm!

Tonight the Town of Hartwick held a public hearing concerning a proposed 76 RV campground at the corner of Goey Pond Road and State Hwy 28, near Cooperstown Dreams Park (3 parcels- Tax Map No. 162.00-1-36.01, 162.00-1-36.02, and 162.00-1-35.00). Over 30 local residents attended. Par Gandhi of Austin, Texas, is the developer. He has hired Napierala Consulting, Manlius, NY, for the project design. Mr. Napierala gave an overview of the project. A traffic consultant was also on hand to review his report on local traffic flow and the potential impact of the campground at this location in summer traffic.

Many concerns from attendees were voiced, including the hydrology of the site (there are wetlands), water and septic issues, traffic congestion, and impacts to Goey Pond.

The Planning Board acknowledged that this was a substantial project for their review and will be seeking assistance from an attorney and an engineering firm.

Although this project has been described as a “RV campground”, the “RV”s are actually stationary units (advertised as “modern luxury cabins”) parked on concrete pads. Not the RVs that you pull behind you. The Hartwick Planning Board July 2026 minutes state, “They are classified as RVs rather than cabins, which affects the DOH and water discharge/leech fields.” According to a post by Otsego 2000, “RVs are classified as private property and thus not subject to property taxes so the benefit to the Town's property tax base will be minimal.”

Matthew Napierala reviews the site plan:
