On this 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the first responders and heroes who served, and the countless people whose lives were impacted by the events of that day.

In the days that followed, our country came together. Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers supported one another. Communities stepped up to serve, volunteer, give, and remind each other that no one has to face hard times alone.

That spirit of coming together is something we can continue to carry forward today. One of the most meaningful ways we can honor those memories is by caring for the people around us by serving our neighbors, volunteering our time, lending a helping hand, and supporting those who are facing difficult times.

At the heart of a strong community is the simple act of looking out for one another. Whether it is providing a meal, offering encouragement, volunteering, or helping meet a need, every act of kindness reminds someone that they are not alone.

Today, as we remember those whose lives were lost and forever changed on September 11, may we also remember the power of coming together.

May we continue to serve, give, and care for our neighbors. Because kindness and compassion can make a lasting difference.

Imagine a loaf of bread sitting on a store shelf. At the end of the day, it may no longer be something a store can sell. Without Agape, it might be headed for the landfill.

But what if that same loaf could have another purpose?

What if it could become breakfast for a family? A meal shared around a table? A simple reminder to someone that their community cares about them?

That’s the heart of S.H. Agape Bread Ministry.

Since 2001, Agape has been rescuing bread and pastries that might otherwise go to waste and sharing them with people and organizations throughout our community. What began as a simple act of compassion has grown into a ministry serving more than 75 churches and organizations and hundreds of individuals each month.

It’s more than rescuing food.
It’s rescuing possibilities.
It’s turning what might have been waste into nourishment.
And it’s showing our neighbors that they are not forgotten.

By giving good food a second chance, Agape is doing more than keeping bread out of the landfill. It’s helping feed families, supporting local organizations, and bringing neighbors together to care for one another.

Because sometimes, the greatest acts of love are found in the simplest things—a loaf of bread, a helping hand, and a community willing to share.

Open Bread Hours:
Wednesday 10-11am
Saturday 9-11am

Today, we celebrate the power of kindness, generosity, and neighbors helping neighbors.

At Lake Township FISH, we see how a small act of kindness can make a big difference. Whether it’s donating food, volunteering your time, making a contribution, or simply spreading the word, your generosity helps make sure no one in our community has to face hunger alone.

We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers, donors, supporters, and community members who make our work possible.

Together, we can nourish our neighbors, strengthen our community, and make a difference.

Interested in helping at the Agape Bread Warehouse? We are in need of volunteers to help with our open times for both the public and group pickup times. The job involves greeting and directing clients or group pickup teams to sign in on the appropriate paper. During open for public times, we ask that the volunteers remove and stack the empty trays from the staging area where clients are shopping.

We would love to have you join our team! All volunteer times are shown on our volunteer website:
