Stay Warm

A warming shelter has been established at Gallatin City Hall, located at 132 West Main Street, for individuals without heat. Cots will be provided, but guests will need to bring blankets, food, and other needed items. Pets in crates are allowed. The shortest and safest path for dropping off individuals is the back door but both the front and back doors are open. Surfaces are icy and very dangerous so please use caution entering the building. Please message the city if you have any questions.

🚨 Warming Center – Wilson County ❄️

The Wilson County Warming Center will open tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd at 5:00 PM at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.

At this time, we do not have a set closing date or time. Hours will depend on temperatures and snowfall totals as this winter weather system develops.

⚠️ Please do NOT arrive at the fairgrounds prior to 5:00 PM tomorrow, as staff and volunteers will still be setting up and preparing the shelter.

If you are experiencing homelessness or do not have a safe place to stay, we strongly encourage you to come to the shelter tomorrow evening. Travel conditions may become dangerous, and it could be extremely difficult or take an extended amount of time for help to reach you on Saturday once the storm moves in.

A warm, safe place and meals will be available.

Please share to help us spread the word and reach those who may need a place to stay. Stay safe, Wilson County.

Winter Weather Update Tuesday Jan 20, 26

Tennessee Emergency Management Agency is reporting high confidence in a regional winter storm that could impact Tennessee beginning Friday night and continuing through the weekend. While timing and accumulation details are not exact at this time, temperatures are expected to fall below freezing late Friday and remain below freezing through the weekend into early next week, which could extend impacts for several days.

Business preparedness checklist - now through Friday
• Review operating plans: hours, delayed openings, closures, and how you’ll communicate changes to customers
• Staffing and remote work: confirm coverage, remote access, and procedures
• Supply and deliveries: adjust delivery windows, fuel company vehicles, and secure critical inventory
• Facility protection: wrap exposed pipes, check heating systems, confirm salt/ice melt on hand, and stage door mats/signage
• Power continuity: test generators/backup power where applicable; ensure phones, radios, and devices stay charged
• Safety first: remind employees not to travel if roads are unsafe; reinforce slip/fall prevention around entrances

Please monitor the US National Weather Service for the latest forecast updates:
• US National Weather Service Nashville Tennessee
• US National Weather Service Memphis Tennessee
• US National Weather Service Huntsville Alabama
