The Hartsville Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the Greenville Police Department, the family, friends, and loved ones of Sergeant Ashley Munoz following last night’s tragic crash that claimed her life.

Sergeant Ashley Munoz faithfully served the Greenville Police Department for 11 years and most recently supervised the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, overseeing property crimes, financial crimes, and family crimes. Her dedication to public service and commitment to protecting her community will not be forgotten.

We are also keeping Sergeant Diana Munoz, Greenville Police Department’s Public Information Officer, in our thoughts and prayers as she remains hospitalized in critical condition. Sergeant Diana Munoz has served the department for 12 years and has been a trusted voice for both her agency and community.

This heartbreaking loss impacts the entire law enforcement family. Ashley and Diana dedicated their lives to serving others, and our hearts are with their two young children and all those grieving during this incredibly difficult time.

The Hartsville Police Department stands alongside the Greenville Police Department and will continue to support them in the days ahead. When one of us hurts, we all hurt.

A memorial honoring Sergeant Ashley Munoz has been established at the City of Greenville Public Safety Campus located at 204 Halton Road. Community members wishing to pay their respects and show support for the Munoz family and Greenville Police Department are encouraged to visit.

Please continue to keep the Munoz family and the men and women of the Greenville Police Department in your prayers.

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Hartsville Police Department honors Officer Ulysses “Buck” Dobson Sr., who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on April 20, 1953.

Officer Dobson was a trailblazer for our community. He was the first African-American police officer to serve the City of Hartsville and remains the only Hartsville police officer killed in the line of duty.

Though his time with the Hartsville Police Department lasted only two years, his courage and sacrifice left a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.

Today, we remember Officer Dobson’s dedication to service, his commitment to protecting others, and the legacy he leaves behind for future generations.

Please join us in honoring Officer Ulysses “Buck” Dobson Sr. and all fallen officers who gave their lives in service to their communities.
