The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is currently in the area of Sandpath Road and J Powell Drive searching for Benny Thompson, who fled on foot following a traffic stop.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — The small town of Esto, Florida, just beyond the Alabama border in Geneva County, is under a boil water notice.

Town officials say this boil water notice was put into effect after several water wells lost pressure.

All residents and businesses are advised to boil any water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and any other activity that involves water use.

Southwestern Houston County in southeastern Alabama...
Central Holmes County in the panhandle of Florida...
Jackson County in the panhandle of Florida...
Northeastern Washington County in the panhandle of Florida...

* Until 645 PM CDT.

* At 345 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain falling across the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cottonwood, Graceville, Chipley, Bonifay, Dothan, Hartford,
Taylor, Slocomb, Cowarts, Bradford, Malvern, Rehobeth, Cottondale,
Alford, Caryville, Wausau, Esto, Madrid, Westville and Campbellton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
