Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the Hamden REGIONS Center alongside Sen. Winfield and Rep. Walker to see firsthand the incredible work being done to help young men transition from life in the system to life in the community.

We had the chance to experience some of the resources available at the center, including their simulators and recording studio, and see how programs like REGIONS give youth the tools, guidance, and support they need to move forward. From reentry support and workforce development to coaching, housing, and connections to mental health and addiction services, these programs create real opportunities for young men to build stability, pursue their goals, and create new paths for themselves.

I’m grateful to the Community Partners in Action team and all of the community organizations working to make restorative justice a reality in Connecticut.

Yesterday, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of UConn’s new Pratt Street Residence Hall, the university’s first permanent student housing in Hartford. This new space will give nearly 200 students the opportunity to live, learn, and build community right here in downtown Hartford.

Investing in our students is an investment in Hartford. By bringing more students downtown, we’re supporting local businesses, strengthening our community, and helping create a more vibrant city for everyone.

Congratulations to UConn, the students, and all of the community, business, and state partners who helped make this project a reality. I’m excited to see the next generation of UConn students make Hartford their home! 💙
