The annual Bridgewater Tractor Parade was a great time on Sunday. Thank you to First Selectman Gsell for the opportunity to join the judges’ tent again this year. Thanks to all the sponsors and everyone who works so hard to organize this community event each year, and congrats to all the winners.

Many residents have inquired about the status of the paving project on Kettletown Road. I am pleased to share that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing a resurfacing project on Kettletown Road and part of Georges Hill Road (Route 487) in Southbury and Oxford. A 4.24-mile segment of road will be milled and paved. Milling will be done on Tuesday, September 1 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with paving anticipated to begin on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 18, 2026. Motorists can expect lane closures from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Students in Bridgewater, New Milford and Roxbury are starting a new school year this week, while Southbury students will be back in class on September 1st! That means buses will be back on the roads. I co-sponsored a bill this session, which was signed into law, increasing penalties by requiring a mandatory six-month suspension of a license of any driver who, a third or subsequent time, is caught violating the state law on stopping for school buses.
