🚨 Press Release Update: Hartford Police Investigate Homicide 🚨
Hartford Police officers responded to the area of 149 Magnolia Street following a ShotSpotter notification.
Upon arrival, officers located a parked vehicle with an unresponsive female in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers also located a second female on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim, a female in her thirties, was transported to an area hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
During the course of the investigation, a suspect was developed and an arrest warrant was drafted and approved, charging the suspect with Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Risk of Injury, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Use of a Firearm, and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree.
Through investigative means, the suspect was determined to be staying in a hotel room in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Members of the Hartford Police Major Crimes Division, Massachusetts State Police, and the Holyoke Police Department responded to the hotel. The hotel was evacuated, with the exception of the suspect’s room.
Massachusetts State Police established contact with the suspect in an attempt to negotiate his surrender. The suspect barricaded himself inside the room and refused to exit. After a several-hour standoff, it was learned that the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions continue to investigate this incident.
