🚨 Hartford Police Investigate Non-Fatal Shooting 🚨

Hartford Police officers responded to 425 Wethersfield Avenue following a ShotSpotter notification.

While officers were investigating, it was learned that a gunshot victim had been transported by private vehicle to an out-of-town hospital for treatment. The victim, a male in his forties, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and have assumed the investigation.

🚨 Hartford Police Investigate Shooting 🚨

Hartford Police officers responded to an area hospital after receiving a report of a gunshot victim arriving for treatment.

The victim, a female in her thirties, was being treated for a single gunshot wound. Preliminary investigation determined the incident occurred in the area of Park Street at Park Terrace.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and have assumed the investigation.

🚔 STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE ARREST 🚔

On June 1, 2026, members of the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force (GHRATTF) were conducting proactive patrol when they observed a stolen Land Rover traveling south on Broad Street.

Detectives conducted surveillance and clandestinely followed the vehicle until it parked in the area of 360 Vine Street.

Officers converged on the vehicle and took the operator into custody without incident.

• Theft of a Motor Vehicle
• Larceny 1st Degree
• Use of a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner's Permission

Recently, students from Bulkeley High School had the opportunity to visit the Hartford Police Department’s Public Safety Complex for an interactive field trip and an inside look at modern policing.

Students met members of our Command Staff, spent time with Chief James C. Rovella, and learned about the many divisions and career opportunities within the department.

The experience included hands-on demonstrations with detectives from the Crime Scene Division, giving students a firsthand look at how evidence is processed and investigations are conducted.

The group also traveled to Riverside Park, where they explored Marine Unit vessels and learned about the unique responsibilities of officers who patrol Connecticut’s waterways.

From crime scene investigations to marine operations, students experienced firsthand the wide range of specialized assignments that help keep Hartford safe. Opportunities like these help build connections, spark curiosity, and provide a better understanding of the work our officers perform every day. 💛🖤

Hartford Police officers responded to the area of 62 New Britain Avenue on a report of a serious vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian, a male in his twenties, suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The involved vehicle remained on scene, and the operator is cooperating with the investigation.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and has assumed the investigation.

🚨 FIREARM ARREST 🚨

On Friday, May 22, 2026, members of the Hartford Police Street Crimes Unit observed a vehicle displaying a stolen license plate traveling on Sigourney Street.

Officers attempted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Sigourney Street and Sargeant Street. The operator failed to obey the officer's emergency signal and recklessly accelerated away. Officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device during the pursuit.

At the intersection of Sigourney Street and Asylum Avenue, the suspect vehicle became involved in a two-car collision, causing disabling damage to both vehicles and resulting in minor injuries.

Following the crash, the front-seat passenger fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. During a canvass of the passenger's flight path, officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

🚨 HARTFORD POLICE MAKE CHILD EXPLOITATION ARRESTS 🚨

On May 28, 2026, members of the Hartford Police Special Investigation Division’s Child Exploitation Prevention Unit (CEPU), working alongside the FBI Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force, conducted an undercover operation targeting individuals seeking to engage in sexual activity with a person they believed to be an underage female.

As a result of the operation, three suspects arrived at a predetermined location in Hartford and were taken into custody without incident.

All three were transported to the Hartford Police Detention Facility and held on $500,000 bonds.

From navigating large groups and dense crowds to managing concerts, festivals, parades, road races, funeral escorts, dignitary and presidential escorts, UConn celebrations, and countless special events, motor officers must demonstrate exceptional riding ability and decision-making under demanding conditions.

The rigorous training program challenges riders through advanced motorcycle operations, slow-speed precision maneuvering, emergency response techniques, obstacle courses, and real-world riding scenarios designed to prepare them for the unique demands of motor duty.
