Today, we had the opportunity to recognize several outstanding employees from across DAS who were selected as their business unit's honoree as part of our inaugural DAS Commissioner's Award program.

While Randall Porter of DAS Fleet Operations was named the agencywide recipient of the DAS Commissioner's Award, we were also proud to recognize the exceptional employees chosen to represent each of our business units:

DAS BITS: Irene Garcia
Business Office: Francisco Rivera
Human Resources: Theresa Judge
Procurement: Leslie Cote

These individuals exemplify the professionalism, dedication, innovation, and commitment to public service that define DAS. Their contributions help drive our mission forward every day and make a meaningful difference for our agency, our partner agencies, and the residents of Connecticut.

Please join us in congratulating Irene, Francisco, Theresa, and Leslie on this well-deserved recognition and thanking them for their continued service and leadership.

This Military Appreciation Month, DAS is proud to honor and celebrate the service, sacrifice, and dedication of our past and current military service members.

Yesterday, DAS’s Equal Employment Opportunity Center of Excellence, in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, hosted the Military Appreciation Month 2026 Ceremony to recognize Connecticut’s veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, military families, and state employees who have served our country.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this meaningful event, including our keynote speaker, Dr. Carlita Cotton, a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs Board of Trustees.

To our colleagues at DAS and across state government who have served: thank you for your dedication both in uniform and in public service.

Exciting news from the NASCA 2026 Annual Leadership Conference! 🎉

Today, DAS Communications Director Leigh Appleby was named a NASCA 20under40 honoree, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Leigh’s recognition stems from his exceptional project management, strategic vision, and leadership—especially in his role as our digital accessibility lead. His dedication to ensuring all state websites and digital content meet federal accessibility standards is nothing short of inspiring.

He has brought together cross-functional teams, reviewed thousands of webpages and documents, and championed the adoption of evolving accessibility standards. His work is driving meaningful change by expanding equitable access to government services and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to inclusive, accountable public service.

Huge congratulations to Leigh on this incredibly well‑deserved honor! 🌟👏
