Some scenes from a work in progress. 🚧

Since we broke ground in March, extraordinary progress has been made at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station’s Anderson-Magnarelli Valley Laboratory in Windsor.

New greenhouses are taking shape as crews gut and renovate the existing facility, carefully preserving the historic character of the original 1940 building. The completed project will add approximately 24,800 square feet of modern laboratory and support space for research into plant diseases, insect pests, soil health, and other challenges affecting Connecticut’s growers and communities.

Crews are also drilling geothermal wells that will provide energy-efficient heating and cooling. Once that work is complete, the land will be restored as fields for growing crops—putting the space right back to work in support of CAES’s research mission.

DAS is proud to administer a project that honors the facility’s history while creating a modern, sustainable home for agricultural science and discovery.

Construction is expected to reach substantial completion in August 2027.

Projects that help support Connecticut’s veterans are always extra special to us here at DAS.

Today, Commissioner Michelle Gilman joined Governor Ned Lamont, the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Housing, and project partners in Rocky Hill to celebrate the renovation and renewal of Building 51 at Patriots Landing North.

The renewed 22,000-square-foot facility will provide safe, modern, and accessible temporary housing for homeless and at-risk veterans and their families.

This project includes important accessibility, safety, and building improvements, including ADA-compliant ramps, entrances, parking, and restrooms; modern fire alarm and safety systems; improved ventilation; LED lighting; restored historic features; and renovated interior spaces.

Thank you to DVA and DOH for their partnership, and to our DAS project team, including Chief Architect David Barkin and Project Managers Alexander Grab, Daniel Wagoner, and Rahul Abraham, for helping bring this important project to life.

We are proud to support those who have served our country and to help create spaces that provide dignity, stability, and care for Connecticut’s veterans and their families. 🇺🇸
