“Bilodeau and Ormond won something more important than two sets of financial reports. They turned a long-ignored legal requirement into an obligation backed by court judgments. That is a win for union members — and a reminder that the state should have acted sooner.”

For years, Connecticut’s Labor Department did not enforce a law requiring certain unions to file annual financial reports and show them to their members. The department’s explanation was simple: pursuing a violation would cost more than the $25 fine. Two public employees have now provided what t...

When CT Democrats "legalized" medical ma*****na and permitted dispensaries, they required a licensed pharmacist to be on premises during all hours of operation. Not unreasonable given the fact that "regular" pharmacies are required to do that.

Just this past session though, they removed that requirement, resulting in looser requirements for a pot pharmacy (which is not permitted by federal law) than for a real pharmacy (which IS permitted by federal law). Yup.

Nice work if you can get it. Oh, but you can't! 🤨

“Now there is going to be a cloud of nepotism that hangs over this selection process given that a no-bid contract was given to someone who has held political office and has been a Lamont insider,” [House GOP Leader Vincent] Candelora added.

A no-bid consulting contract that will pay former Education Secretary Miguel Cardona $250,000 has raised ethical questions.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining doctors, nurses, scientists, patients, well-wishers, Governor Lamont, Mayor Cervoni, State Senator Cicarella, and other local and state officials for the official ribbon cutting of the New Connecticut Proton Therapy Center on Northrup Rd!

The first Proton site in the state, this incredible facility is a collaboration between Hartford HealthCare and Yale New Haven Health System. According to several of the speakers, unlike some other treatments, Proton therapy allows doctors to target cells in very controlled ways, making it ideal for pediatric patients and adults with tumors that require follow-up courses of treatment.

This facility will allow patients access to state-of-the-art treatments without having to travel to Boston or New York City, allow resident doctors to train on the most up-to-date equipment available, and for clinical trials.

I want to thank Chris Chandler, of Proton International, Pamela Sutton-Wallace, Acting CEO, Yale New Haven Health, Jeff Flaks, CEO of Hartford Healthcare, Dr. Eric Winer, Dir. Yale Cancer Center, Governor Lamont and others for helping bring such a fantastic facility to Wallingford.

I co-sponsored House Bill 5065 to give volunteer firefighters and EMS members an income tax deduction on their stipend, and I intend to file it again next session.

I also supported Public Act 26-12, which expands the Fallen Hero Fund to cover mortgage assistance and tuition waivers for surviving families. Wallingford and Middlefield rely on people who volunteer their nights and weekends, and the state should make that easier rather than harder.
